How to apply for a Council or housing association home

How to apply for a council or housing association home

Most social rented homes owned by the council and some homes owned by housing associations are allocated by Enfield Homes through the Choice Based Lettings System - Home Connections.

The first step is to apply to Enfield's Housing Register.  Anyone can apply for social rented housing:

  • Council tenants
  • Housing association tenants
  • People on the council transfer list
  • People who are homeless
  • Owner occupiers
  • Living in private rented accommodation

Applicants do not have to live in the Borough to go on the Housing Register.

There are never enough social rented homes for everyone that wants one.  There are approximately 7,600 households on the Housing Register and only less than 860 are housed each year.
