Psychological services for children and young people
Growing up is an exciting time but it may be complicated by problems that a child or young person has to face. If you live in Enfield, CAMHS and EPS may be able to help. Our aim is to enable all children, adolescents and families referred to us to have access to the most appropriate form of psychological help.
What is CAMHS?
The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) is for children and young people, and their families, where there is concern about emotional or behavioural difficulties. They need to be referred to the service by a professional. Those over 16 can contact us directly.
CAMHS includes the Service for Adolescents and Families in Enfield (SAFE) and the Service for children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental disorders (SCAN).
The Service is jointly run by Enfield Education, Children Services and Leisure Department, Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Service NHS Trust and Enfield Primary Care Trust.
What is EPS?
The Educational Psychological Service (EPS) works with children when there is concern about their behavioural and emotional well-being in school, or learning difficulties.
Pupils of school age are referred by their school with parental permission. If parents are worried about their child, we suggest that they talk to the school first.
Most pre-school children are referred by professionals working with them and their families (e.g. pre-school support workers.)
The Service is run by Enfield Education, Children's Services and Leisure Department, and works in partnership with CAMHS.
