Backdating benefit claims

We may be able to backdate your claim if there is a good reason why you could not apply for benefit earlier.

If you have claimed Housing and/or Council Tax Benefit, but would have claimed sooner if you could have, you can ask us to backdate your claim. This means that we could treat your claim as if we received it on an earlier date.
