Advice and support for tenants

Supporting people to live independently

The Supporting People Team funds a number of support services in Enfield. The support services are designed to help vulnerable people live as independently as possible in their own homes so that their quality of life is improved.

A support worker can visit you at your home and may be able to help you with some or all of the following:

  • Setting up and running your home well (e.g. dealing with issues such as turning on gas, electricity and water)
  • Finding furniture
  • Sorting out rent and bills
  • Managing money and claiming benefits
  • Getting insurance and ensuring security
  • Meeting your obligations as a tenant
  • Making the most of your neighbourhood (e.g. finding shops and services)
  • Looking for jobs· Sourcing for training or courses · Making use of leisure time
  • Getting in touch with extra help when needed (e.g. to talk about problems
  • Getting expert advice on issues (like debt, mental health problems, misuse of drugs or alcohol) and contacting social services or other organisations

You can discuss any problem with your support worker who will then arrange a 'support plan' with you; this allows you to know what to expect and how often the worker will visit you.

If you later find that you do not need this type of support or that you need less support, contact us to request for further help through Supporting People schemes.
