Everybody Active Strategy
Everybody Active
Everybody Active is about making sport and physical activity an important and valued part of everyday life.
It is a five year sport, physical activity and physical education strategy for Enfield that sets out our strategic vision and aims for 2009-2014 and identifies priority actions to be resourced and delivered through public, private and third (community and voluntary) sector organisations working together.
It has been developed by Enfield Council and the Enfield Community Sport and Physical Activity Network taking into account a wide range of local issues and views including:
- The contribution sport and physical activity make to local strategic priorities set out in the Enfield Local Area Agreement, Sustainable Community Strategy, and in the Business Plan of Enfield Council (summarised in Appendix A of the main strategy report)
- Council Place Shaping Plans
- LAA Health Objectives
- Enfield's demographic, social and economic context and projected future changes
- Existing levels of participation in sport and physical activity
- Satisfaction levels with existing provision and barriers to participation
The Everybody Active sport and physical activity vision for 2014 proposes:
Everybody Active:
at school, in the workplace and in the community
and that our strategic priorities and aims are:
- Everyone participating in physical activity, everyday
Aim: To make physical activity a part of everyday life - Educating and inspiring young people to be active
Aim: For all young people to choose to participate in at least 5 hours a week sport, physical activity and physical education - Providing diverse, exciting and inclusive sport and physical activity opportunities and facilities
Aim: To encourage lifelong participation by providing all the community with a choice of accessible, diverse, exciting and inclusive sport and physical activity facilities, activities and events - Community led sport and physical activity
Aim: To increase the involvement of local people in sport and physical activity decision making, volunteering, leadership and coaching - Growing sport and physical activity through the London 2012 Games
Aim: For Enfield residents to be involved in the London 2012 Games and to enjoy and benefit from the Olympic and Paralympic Games and their legacy - Creating pathways to success
Aim: To encourage and support every individual to progress and to succeed in and through sport and physical activity
Physical activity and sport are essential for our health and well being. Appropriate physical activity and sports for all constitute one of the major components of a healthy lifestyle. By encouraging residents to take part in sport and physical activity, by delivering improved facilities and by ensuring that sport and physical activity is delivered to all people in the Borough we are helping to prevent health problems in the future, we are providing positive activities and we are delivering on residents aspirations.
