Public rights of way
The council is responsible for 325 public rights of way totalling approximately 64 kilometres. These cover the following:
- Public footpaths - For walkers only. They may not be suitable for pram, pushchair or wheelchair users.
- Bridleways - For walkers, horse riders and cyclists. Cyclists must give way to walkers and horse-riders.
- Byways and Restricted Byways (open to all traffic) - Routes for walkers, horse riders, cyclists and vehicles. Users include horse-drawn carriages, motorcycles and other motor vehicles.

Organisations and companies can request for information; a fee applies.
The fee depends on the amount of time taken to locate the data and complexity of answering the query.
Charges are £20.80 for the first half hour, unless otherwise advised of a higher charge for a more complex enquiry or if it comprises more than three questions.
