Council Tax - Band reduction for a disabled person

We may give a band reduction if a permanently disabled person lives in a dwelling with certain features that are essential or of major importance to the person's well-being.

Disability Relief is a council tax reduction designed to help households where one or more members suffer from a permanent disability. Enfield 's Collection service assesses and awards claims for Disability Relief.

  • The property must be the disabled person's sole or main home, and
  • There must be a room mainly used by and for meeting the needs of the disabled person, or
  • There must be a second bathroom or kitchen used by and for meeting the needs of the disabled person, or
  • The disabled person must use a wheelchair indoors

You must complete an application form.

The property must be inspected (by appointment) by one of our Enquiry Officers.

We aim to process your application within 14 days, but this may not be possible at peak times.
