Enfield School Crossing Patrol Service
Enfield School Crossing Patrol Service
We provide and maintain School Crossing Patrols at or near Enfield schools. There are currently 32 sites in Enfield, either directly outside schools or where lots of children cross the road on their way to school.
Penalty
It is dangerous for other road users and illegal if you do not stop your vehicle when required by a School Crossing Patrol. The law says that they can help anyone cross the road, not just children but adults as well.
The penalty is a £1,000 fine and three penalty points; you may even be disqualified from driving.
We are working with the Police Safer Neighbourhoods Teams to prosecute drivers who do not stop for our School Crossing Patrols.
Information on School Crossing Patrols:
- School Crossing Patrols work part-time
- On average they work 2 hours per day
- The duty hours usually cover the beginning and the end of the school day, for example 8.15am to 9.15am and 3pm to 4pm. These times vary slightly from site to site
- They only work during school term times
- Training and a uniform is provided
