Highway-Related Insurance Claims
Highway-Related Insurance Claims
If your property was damaged or you were injured, and you believe this could have been avoided if the council maintained the relevant public areas (e.g. roads, pavements, street furniture), you may claim for compensation.
How to claim
You should obtain a claim form from our Insurance Section and send us a completed one. You have to provide details about the damage or injury such as:
- Date
- Time
- Street name
- House number
- Landmark
A Highway Inspector will visit the alleged accident sites, take photographs and, if necessary, meet you at the accident location.
The Insurance Section will contact you about its findings and decision.
