Work Experience and School / College Students aged 14 – 19 Enfield Work Experience
Work Experience - Overview
Enfield Work Experience works with many local schools, colleges and employers to organise work placements for students in Enfield.
Participating schools and colleges contribute towards the overall costs for Enfield Work Experience to arrange work placements and carry out health and safety risk assessments for their students. Each school / college has a named Work Experience Co-ordinator as a point of contact for the students, parents and employers.
Enfield Work Experience liaises with employers locally and in Central London to find work placements. Every new employer receives a visit from a member of the Enfield Work Experience team. The purpose of the visit is to explain the process of Work Experience, draw up a job description and carry out a health and safety risk assessment for the student. This is a statutory requirement to ensure that the student will be working in a safe environment. They also check that the employer has current Employers Liability Insurance in place. Further visits to the employers are made every few years, depending on the level of risk, to keep the risk assessment up to date.
If the placement is in a different borough, Enfield Work Experience liaises with the local Work Experience provider to arrange for them to carry out the health and safety risk assessment. This is a reciprocal arrangement so Enfield Work Experience also carries out health and safety risk assessments for other boroughs, where a student from outside of Enfield has found a placement within Enfield.
