London Borough of Enfield

Transport Policy

The Traffic and Transportation Service Centre is part of the Environment Street Scene and Group, and is the main source of expert knowledge for a range of transport issues.

The transport policy aspect of the service focuses mainly on drawing up policies on every relevant part of transport which depends on and reacting to policy issues. The service plays an important role in supporting local interests and with transport operators and providers.

The transport policy part of the service also provides transport-related ideas for Enfield Council to achieve its corporate priorities. The service ensures that the policy framework is consistent with national government and London-wide policies of the Mayor for London.

The policy work of the service helps ensure that Enfield meets the legal obligations and that the requirements for obtaining finance grants are satisfied.

The service carries out all the required processes to secure the maximum possible funding and associated monitoring.

An important part of the policy work is responding to various policy initiatives by the central government and the London government - the service makes sure that our responses addresses the complex balance between our priorities and London's and/ or the country's needs. An example of this is the proposal for a London-wide Low Emission Zone.
