The winner of the Enfield Children's Book Award winner was announced at a special finale event at the Intimate Theatre in Palmers Green on Thursday 24 March.
Since September, pupils in years 5 - 7 in primary and secondary schools throughout the borough have been selecting and reading their favourite new children's books.
On 3 March, World Book Day, they voted at schools, in libraries and on the Enfield Libraries website, selecting Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days by Jeff Kinney as their winner.
The complete shortlist comprised:
Jeff Kinney Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days
Rick Riordan Percy Jackson & the Battle of the Labyrinth
David Walliams The Boy in a Dress
Anthony Horowitz Skeleton Key: Graphic Novel
Gillian Cross Where I Belong
Michelle Harrison 13 Treasures
Michelle Harrison, author of 13 Treasures, spoke to children from participating schools at the finale event, answering their questions about writing and publishing. Children also heard about how books are chosen for bookshops and libraries and viewed the completed animation project they had worked on in November.
Another shortlisted author, Gillian Cross, sent Enfield children a message of thanks for supporting her book.
One of the Award's aims was to encourage a love of reading and enjoyment of books by giving pupils the opportunity to choose the winning title themselves. The response received from schools has been extremely enthusiastic, with over 800 children voting for their favourite book.
