Local Air Quality Management
Local
authorities have to assess the quality of ambient air in their areas to ensure
that it meets government objectives for the concentration of seven pollutants.
These pollutants, known to have negative effects on health, are:
- Lead
- Nitrogen dioxide
- Benzene
- 1,3-butadiene
- Carbon monoxide
- Sulphur dioxide
- PM10
The service has two aspects:
- Monitoring, review and assessment of Enfield's air quality
- Regulation of industrial processes
