Apprenticeship opportunities

Helping People Gain Construction Skills

Enfield Council is working with Notting Hill Housing Association to provide apprenticeships working towards construction qualifications.

Notting Hill's award winning Construction Training Initiative (CIT) has places available if you want an apprenticeship to train to work in various construction trades including electrical, plumbing, brickwork, carpentry and decorating in Enfield.

Although the minimum age to work on a construction site is 18, the Construction Training Initiative is open to all ages, trainees can start apprenticeships at 17. The Initiative is open to all in the local community.

If you are unemployed, already attending college, or looking to secure a college place you may be interested in the Initiative.

What do trainees receive?

  • The opportunity to earn as you train
  • Support towards securing a college place
  • Support through college to achieve an NVQ
  • Financial support towards books, stationery, fees and travelling costs
  • Free set of high quality tools and equipment
  • Free CSCS Health & Safety tests
  • A series of high quality work placements
  • Personalised advice and guidance from professional staff

This Initiative brings growth, jobs and opportunity to the borough, giving people in Enfield a chance to help with making Enfield a better place to live. There are currently two sites within the borough: North Circular Road and Watermill Lane N18.  As these and other sites progress, more opportunities will become available for local residents.

Why not see if you can be among the many people who have already benefited from the Construction Training Initiative. You may qualify to join the initiative and obtain the qualifications to help you get a permanent job.
