Enfield is a desirable London borough where many families have already chosen to live.

As households grow, often families will need more than one extra room. We know that people may need to move to larger accommodation.  

There is a very high demand for family housing but an extremely limited supply of properties.  However, there are practical solutions that Enfield Council can help with.

At 31 August 2009 there were just under 17,000 social rented homes in Enfield. 

Of the total council housing stock in Enfield, almost 35% is either one bedroom or bed-sit accommodation.

Only half of the 871 homes that became available for letting in 2008/09 were family sized properties.

Four bedroom properties (either housing association or council) represent less than 1% of the total housing stock.

There are 7,697 applicants on Enfield's Housing Register.

Over 4,800 new applications are added to the Register and assessed each year.
