Road Safety Operations outside Schools
Road Safety outside Schools
Enfield Road Safety and police Safe Neighbourhood Teams work in partnership with schools, challenging poor driver behaviour and, where appropriate, using pupils to speak to motorists about road safety problems near their school.
Operations normally consist of a small number of Year 6 pupils (maximum number of 10 pupils) and usually take place at the beginning or end of the school day. Some of the issues we challenge are:
Parking on School Keep Clear markings and on the approaches and exits to controlled pedestrian crossings
Other parking offences
Highway obstruction
Drivers stopping in the middle of the road to let their children out
Drivers using mobile phones whilst driving
Excessive speed
Seatbelts and other child car seats not properly fitted
Defective vehicles
Driving without due care
