Play Development Team Information
The Play Development Team provides a wide range of high-quality, friendly, safe, fun and stimulating play opportunities and childcare services for children and young people who live in Enfield and are between four and 14 years old.
The play opportunities and services meet all legal requirements and follow good practice standards as set with Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills) and Enfield Council. They include:
After School Clubs (ASCs)
The Play Development Team runs six ASCs in various schools of Enfield during term-time. Places at these clubs are popular and some clubs have a waiting list.
There is a charge for this service.
Closed-access Holiday Playschemes
These schemes provide childcare facilities for children between four (if in full-time education) and 11 years old; they operate at various schools and community venues during Easter, summer and half-terms, weekdays, usually between 9am and 5pm.
Children are required to remain on the premises until they are signed out by a
parent or carer.
There is a daily charge for this service.
To make a booking, contact the Play Development Team on 020 8351 2470.
Open-access Holiday Play Days
They provide free play opportunities for children between five and 14 years of age during Easter, Whitsun half-term and summer holiday periods, weekdays between 10.30am and 4.30pm.
They take place in parks and community buildings.
They are run on a first-come-first-served basis and children are allowed to sign themselves in and out.
Reach Out and Play
These cater for children between five and 13 years of age, and are run during
various school holidays and term time (during summer only).
Each session lasts for about two hours and takes place in parks around Enfield , weather
permitting.
These sessions are free of charge; they are funded by the Children's Fund and reach out to children who might not be able to access other play opportunities.
National Playday
The event is held annually on the first Wednesday in August.
Themed activities such as art and craft, sports and games, and dance and drama
are organised in a park setting to celebrate National Playday.
Required information
If you are a parent or carer, you have to complete a booking form and a child's information form (details will be kept confidential) before your child attends play or childcare sessions. This enables your child's needs to be understood.
Response time
We usually post information to parents and carers within two working days.
