Translation and Interpreting Service
Translation and Interpreting Service
Enfield Council believes that all members of the community have the right to equal access to information and services provided by the Council.
Enfield Council provides a wide range of Translation and Interpreting services to people in the community who need help because English is not their first language. We also provide British Sign Language interpreters for the deaf community and can provide translations into Braille, Audiotape and Large print for the visually impaired.
Using Interpreters and having documents translated enables non-English speaking residents within Enfield to access Council services. This improves communication with residents and reduces linguistic barriers.
Enabling residents to communicate in their preferred language gives a sense of empowerment and equality.
If you need the services of an interpreter or need a document translated, please contact the relevant team, who will arrange this on your behalf.
Turnaround times for translations are as follows:
- Up to 1000 words - 5 working days
- Between 1000 and 3000 words - 7 working days
- Between 3000 and 5000 words - 9 working days
- Over 5000 words - to be negotiated with the T & I Service
You can also use our automated translation service to translate any web page on Enfield Council's web site. There are over 50 langauges to choose from, and they can be selected using the 'Select Language menu, located at the top of every page.
