Home improvement home repairs assistance

The Small Works Assistance scheme provides financial assistance for carrying out essential repairs (e.g. repairing leaking roofs, replacing defective boilers or electric wiring) up to the value of £3,000 in owner-occupied properties.

Contact the Private Sector Housing team by telephone about eligibility for grant assistance. If you are not on a means-tested benefit, a preliminary form will be sent to you.

The level of contribution will be calculated after we receive your form and we will contact you to arrange for a survey of the property.

If the work is eligible for grant, application forms will be sent out for completion and return with estimates and other documents. The grant is calculated; after you have received our approval, you can arrange for your builder to carry out the work.

Officers will visit the property on satisfactory completion of the work and on receipt of all necessary guarantees (e.g. the final payment is made and the case closed).
