Reception allocations

In Enfield, children are admitted to reception classes in the academic year when they turn five years old.

Enfield Schools Admissions Service (ESAS) coordinates the allocation of reception school places in Enfield to make sure that as many children as possible get places at schools of their parents' preference.

For complete information about the admission arrangements in Enfield, including admission criteria for all schools, refer to Applying for a Primary School in Enfield.

When applying for a reception place, parents can express a preference for three schools within the borough of Enfield. This includes voluntary-aided (church) schools and foundation schools but does not include private schools.

If we cannot offer a place at a preferred school, we will place your child on the reserve list of any community school that you had applied for, and inform you of schools that have vacancies.

Mid-year admissions

If a child, who is of age for primary school, moves into Enfield, his parents should either call or visit ESAS to find out which community schools have vacancies and for local schools' contact details.

This also applies to families that moved house within Enfield and the child's primary school class is now too far to travel to.

Parents can contact schools directly.

Parents have the right to appeal against the decision not to allocate their child a place at a school of their preference.

For more information and appeal forms, contact ESAS.
