Graffiti
To make Enfield safer, cleaner and greener, we want to prevent and remove graffiti as quickly as possible.
Public property
Our Graffiti Action Team removes graffiti from parks, open spaces, the public highway, private land visible from the highway and non-illuminated street furniture.
We do not remove graffiti that is above two metres in height or if it is on easily damaged surfaces (this requires specialist cleansing). Removal above 2 metres is usually completed by the owner/occupier of the building or by contractors acting on our behalf.
We will investigate your report within 10 working days and inform you about its status.
Racist/offensive graffiti is usually removed within 24 hours of it's report.
Council-owned park and open spaces
Graffiti is usually removed within 7 working days after it is reported.
Street surfaces on or in the public street
Graffiti is usually removed within 7 working days after it is reported.
We are not responsible for Transport for London roads such as A10 and A406.
Listed structures
We remove graffiti from council-owned listed bridges on approval from English Heritage.
Private property
You can have graffiti removed from your property for free if:
- You are a resident in Enfield; and
- The property is a public building or private residence that is visible from the highway and the graffiti is below two metres in height
Housing Association or council property
Each Housing Association is responsible for removing graffiti from its property. If the graffiti is on council housing, contact Enfield Homes (telephone: 0800 4080 160).
Business property
Our enforcement team tries to work with businesses that have been victims of graffiti to ensure its swift removal.
- The enforcement team will request for the graffiti to be removed
- If this is not done, they may serve a notice on the owner or occupier of the property where the graffiti is located
- The notice stipulates the graffiti to be removed within a specific period
- If this is still not done, we will consider removing the graffiti. The costs will be recovered from the owner or occupier
