Abandoned and other nuisance vehicles
Abandoned and other type of nuisance vehicles
Nuisance vehicle- A generic name for all types of vehicles that may be causing problems
- We have to look at each case to see if it falls into other categories, for example abandoned or untaxed vehicles
- This is likely to be one that the keeper no longer wants, that has been left in the open air for a sufficient period of time and in such a condition that enables us to confirm that it is abandoned
- It is also likely to be untaxed
- This is one that is on the public highway without a valid road fund licence and on other land in the open air
- We cannot deal with untaxed vehicles that are on land associated with a dwelling
- In certain circumstances, offering vehicles for sale on the public highway is an offence
- We may not be able to take action in all the cases reported to us
Dangerous vehicles
- These are vehicles which are likely to be found in a public place in such a condition that gives cause for concern for the safety for those who may come in to contact with it
Car repairs on the highway
- It is an offence to carry out motor vehicle repairs on a road in the course of a business activity or for gain or reward
- We may not be able to take action in all the cases reported to us
