Support and advice for the voluntary and community sector

Warm Homes Healthy People Fund 2011/12 – Funding Opportunity

Following a successful bid, a working group of representatives from the Council, Enfield Homes, Public Health and local voluntary and community sector partners, has been awarded £105,500 from the Department of Health’s Warm Homes Health People fund. The fund will help more vulnerable people stay safe and warm during the winter months and prevent as many unnecessary winter deaths as possible.

The money,  which must be used by 31st March 2012, will be used to build on the good work already provided by the Council and local voluntary and community organisations to give practical help and advice to help more vulnerable people, in poorly heated homes, stay safe and warm during the winter months and prevent as many unnecessary winter deaths as possible.
From the funds allocated by the Department of Health, we wish to distribute a total of £25,000.00 to a range of local voluntary and community organisations based in Enfield to support them to run short-term projects that will :

  • Provide a network support, information signposting and advice, hot meals/luncheon clubs and a warm place to spend time.
  • Mobilise communities to help neighbours, friends and relatives to protect avoidable harm to health in winter.

Interested organisations must demonstrate that they are able to meet the eligibility criteria for funding (below) and provide a proposal setting out amount requested and how and when the proposal will meet the funding’s aims and objectives.

The eligibility criteria are :

  • Must be a property constituted voluntary and/or community organisation based in Enfield.
  • Are not already in receipt of Enfield Council grant, core or service level agreement funding for provision of the lunch club or information, advice and guidance.
  • Must provide a warm meal, a warm place to spend time and be able to provide information, advice and guidance on keeping warm and safe during winter.
  • Able to meet the diverse needs of the target groups with a focus on areas of high depravation in the borough.
  • Organisations must charge for services
  • Maximum funding request of £2,500.00

* Dependant on the number and quality of applications, funding allocations may vary so that the project objectives can be delivered as speedily and efficiently as possible.
