Direct Payments
What is a Direct Payment?
This is a cash payment which you can use to pay for your care and support. With a Direct Payment, you are in control of how your needs are met.
Who can receive Direct Payments?
Enfield Council will offer Direct Payments to everyone who is eligible for support from Adult Social Care. You have to be 16 or over, and assessed by Enfield Council as needing services or equipment.
Direct Payments are also available for carers aged 16 or over, including people with parental responsibility for a disabled child.
What can Direct Payments be used for?
Direct Payments are for buying services and equipment to meet the needs described in your assessment. There is flexibility about how you can use the money, as long as it meets the needs identified in your support plan.
How will I receive my Direct Payment?
The best way to receive your Direct Payment is through the Enfield E-card. It is a secure and convenient way of paying for your care and support though a chip and PIN Visa card. It does not require a bank account.
We will load your Direct Payment money onto the E-card instead of paying it into a bank account. Alternatively, you can choose to have your Direct Payment paid into a separate bank account.
More information on the Enfield E-card
Your Direct Payment can be paid directly to you, to a friend or family member if you aren't happy dealing with the money yourself, or we can give you information about independent organisations that can provide advice and support to manage your Direct Payment.
