London Borough of Enfield

Housing Development

Affordable Housing

The council's Enabling Team works with housing associations and developers to build affordable housing in the borough.

Enfield Council's housing development programme provides affordable homes in the borough.  This is a mix of social rented, affordable home ownership, below market rent and supported housing

There are a number of different ways to buy an affordable home of your own with government backed initiatives.

Over the next 5 years Enfield Council will deliver a number of large regeneration projects in the following areas of the borough:

  • Angel Edmonton
  • Palmers Green (A406)
  • Ponders End (North Middlesex University)
  • New Southgate

These projects will provide an excellent opportunity to regenerate areas of the borough and increase the amount of private and affordable housing in Enfield.

Affordable Housing is developed through a mix of:

  • Planning policy (section 106 agreements) where all residential developments with ten properties or more have to contain 50% affordable housing.
  • Development of council disposal sites
  • Sites identified and developed by housing associations
