Housing - allocations - registering for a council property

The Points Scheme - Housing Applications

The Council has a written allocation policy and this explains what priority/number of points are awarded to housing applications. The Policy also explains whom we house.

Everyone who applies to go on the Housing Register is assessed in accordance with the points scheme detailed in the Allocations Policy. Points are awarded to reflect things like overcrowding, the type of tenancy you have, if you are homeless. Points are also given for serious medical conditions which are severely affected by accommodation or lack of accommodation. The Points Scheme is amended from time to time. Once an assessment has been made applicants are informed of the number of points they have been awarded and how they have been given.
