Schools – Extended Schools | |
|
An Extended School provides a range of activities and services, often beyond the school day, to help meet the needs of its pupils, their families and the wider community. Schools develop a range of activities and services such as parenting support, often in partnership with local partners such as colleges, Primary Care Trusts or Job Centre Plus which helps to meet the needs of its pupils, their families and the wider community. Each school will develop on an individual basis dependent on need. Part of the school’s offer should be an After School Club operating during term time and provide care for children after school – usually until 6:00pm. Most settings accept children from 4-11 years of age but there are variations from group to group. (Most After School Clubs run from school premises whilst others are operated by private businesses from church or community halls.) Settings located in schools usually take children only from that school but clubs located in halls may collect from local schools. Eligibility
• Additional Services – dependent on individual requirement – normally for the pupil of the school or their family – but exceptions do occur.
