Enfield Public Safety Centre

The Enfield Public Safety Centre, based in Edmonton, is a combined CCTV control, traffic enforcement and alarm receiving base for Enfield and surrounding areas.

The centre officially opened in May 2003 and received £2.1m of Home Office funding. It is owned and managed by Enfield Council and all monitoring and enforcement is performed by highly trained Legion Security employees. The centre also houses Metropolitan Police Officers that are based on site full time to collect & analyse any vital evidence footage, as well as responding to new incidents.

Currently the centre is responsible for monitoring all council owned community safety cameras in public places including those on housing estates, internal building CCTV cameras for Enfield Council’s Housing Services. The centre also carries out traffic enforcement on behalf of Transport for London helping to reduce congestion, keep bus lanes open and enforces local breaches in parking and traffic legislation.

We are also the first local authority in London to share control of certain cameras for mutual benefit. Our service is so widely respected that we have also been monitoring 60 of Waltham Forest Council’s CCTV cameras since 2003.

The centre is housed in a secure environment with excellent communication links and is reasonably removed from any town centres to ensure that it can remain unaffected from any emergencies which might occur.
