Applying for council housing

Information about how to apply for Council Housing. Details of how the points scheme work and information about the Allocation Policy.

Applications for housing are assessed by using a point’s scheme, which forms part of the Council’s allocation policy. Applicants must complete a housing assessment form and give it to the Assessment Team. Applicants do not have to live in the Borough to go on the Housing Register. Serious medical conditions which are severely affected by accommodation will also be assessed by the Medical Assessment Team within the Assessment Team.
There are approximately 10,000 households on the Housing Register and only less than 1,000 are housed each year.
