Trading Standards ServiceProviding consumers with information and advice on minimum standards of buying and selling of goods and services. The first point of contact for residents living in Enfield is via Consumer Direct (CD) who will provide first stage advise. CD may refer complex cases requiring more detailed investigation to Trading Standards. CD will also refer any complainants to Trading Standards who are deemed to be vulnerable for example the elderly. Once enquires are referred from CD to Trading Standards an officer may contact the complainant for additional information. The service offered by Trading Standards is free of charge.
Traders in the borough of Enfield do not have to go through CD but can contact Trading Standards directly for advice on 020 8379 8505. Trading Standards provide a limited mediation/arbitration scheme between traders and consumers in disputes they both consent to it. Staff also offer basic advice where appropriate on taking complaints through to the County Court. Trading Standards welcome any information from members of the public regarding traders in the borough whom they feel may be breaching the law. We aim to investigate any allegations (which fall within our remit), which we feel are substantial. Eligibility:
