Parks & Open Spaces trees and woodland managementAdvice and information on trees, woodland and tree-related issues to local organisations and the public. Where woodland and parkland trees are on council owned land the local authority has a responsibility to maintain them in a way, which is beneficial to the local environment and ensures public safety.
The main responsibilities of the Parks Arboricultural Team are:
Currently the team are drafting a Parks Tree Strategy for the Council’s 123 parks and open spaces. The aim of the strategy is to ensure that our parks tree stock will be managed, maintained and enhanced over the coming years for the benefit of both current and future generations. A large part of this strategy involves the task of completing a comprehensive tree condition survey in order to determine actions for improvement and enhancement. Work on this tree survey is well underway.
