Advocacy Services

Assessment and Care Management Team

If you feel unable or reluctant to speak up for yourself, or if you feel that you are not being listened to, and you do not have a friend or relative that can help you, an independent advocate can act on your behalf by helping you to put your case forward.

If you are unhappy with any aspect of your care or treatment, we can help you to appoint an independent advocate.

What can an advocate do?

An advocate can attend meetings with you and help you say what you want, or express your views for you if you don’t feel able to.

In order to do this the advocate will meet with you so that you can discuss what your views and feelings are, and exactly what you would like the advocate to do or say. Discussions are confidential.

Your advocate, for instance, can help you think about what should be in your Care Plan.
