Freedom of Information - advice | |
|
Enfield Council provides information on the Freedom of Information Act and advises citizens how to request public information an authority may hold. A request for information from the Council under the Freedom of Information Act has to be made in writing. You have the following rights when you ask for information: • The right to be told whether or not the information exists unless the information is covered by an absolute exemption, in which case the Council does not have to confirm or deny whether it has the information.
Also, if the cost to the Council of answering your request will exceed the government imposed limit (currently £450) we are not legally obliged to provide you with the information. If the information you are seeking exists, and we are not prevented from releasing it by an exemption the Council must provide you with the information within 20 working days. The Council will acknowledge your request for information. This acknowledgement will contain the name and contact details of the Council Officer responsible for handling your request. If we need to contact you to clarify your request or to ask for payment this will be done in writing. Enfield Council already makes a great deal of information available. You may find the information you require in our Publication Scheme. This is a list of all the information we currently publish, and it tells you how you can obtain the information, and whether or not there is a charge Eligibility
