Benefits – New Claims

You may be eligible to claim housing benefit if you are on a low income or in receipt of income support or job seekers allowance and pay rent, whether to a private landlord, a housing association, or the council.

Housing Benefit is a means tested welfare benefit designed to help people on low incomes pay their rent. Enfield’s Benefits service assesses and pays both Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit claims for people living in Enfield.

None.

Required Customer Information
When sending or bringing in your completed claim form you must provide some original documents as proof of what you tell us. The list of proof you must provide is in the notes at the back of the benefit application form.

Service Level Agreement and Turnaround
New claims should be assessed within 36 days of the application form being received.
