Benefits – Change in Circumstances

A claimant in receipt of Housing Benefit is responsible for informing the local authority of any changes in their personal and financial circumstances which may affect their benefit.

If you have applied for, or are receiving Housing and/or Council Tax Benefit, you must let us know about any changes to your circumstances or the circumstances of anyone who lives with you.

If you do not tell the Council of a change in your circumstances you may be paid too much benefit - which we will recover from you. It is a criminal offence if you do not report changes in circumstances.
