Self-employed and claiming
If you are Self-employed and receiving a low income you may quality for Housing Benefit and/or Council Tax Benefit. To find out if you may qualify to receive benefits, check your entitlement on our Benefits Calculator or Contact us.
To claim for Housing and/or Council Tax Benefits please complete and return the Benefit Claim Form together with the Self Employed Earnings Information form.
If you are unable to supply 6 months’ audited accounts you can use the Self Employed Earnings Information form to give us details about your self-employment.
In support of your form we will need:
• Staff costs
• Capital set up costs
• Running costs eg telephone, stationery etc
• Rent, rates and mortgage payments on premises
• Stock purchase
• Business fuel costs
• Marketing costs
• Legal costs
• Insurance
• Subscriptions
• All business and personal bank accounts
If you have the following please also include
• Last tax return
• Proof registered with HMRC
• Registered with NI for contributions or the Small Earnings Exemption
If it is a new business you will need to include your estimated earnings.
