Council tax - band reductions

The local authority may give a band reduction if a permanently disabled person lives in a dwelling with certain features, which are essential, or of major importance to the well being of the disabled.

Disability Relief is a council tax reduction designed to help households where one or more members suffer from a permanent disability. Enfield’s Collection service assesses and awards claims for Disability Relief.

Eligibility
Property must be the disabled person’s sole or main home and
There must be a room mainly used by and for meeting the needs of the disabled person OR
There must be a second bathroom or kitchen used by and for meeting the needs of the disabled person OR
The disabled person must use a wheelchair indoors

Required Customer Information
Must complete an application form
And property must be inspected (by appointment) by one of our Enquiry Officers

Service Level Agreement and Turnaround
We aim to process your application within fourteen days but at peak times this may not be possible.
