Agents and Developers Forum - 6th October 2006
Links can be accessed below for power point presentation.
On Friday 6th October the Development Control Service held its first Agents and Developers forum in the Council Chamber. The service invited Developers and Agents for planning applications to a meeting to update on the service and its processes, as well as offering an opportunity for them as customers to have their say on the service. The forum is a customer engagement initiative that seeks to build a good understanding and working relationship with regular users of the service. Initially meetings are planned to take place on a half yearly basis.
Following a brief introduction from the Head of Development Control, Julian Jackson, the forum kicked off with a presentation from guest speaker Esther Kurland from Urban Design for London, who talked about Design and Access statements, which under recent legislation needs to be submitted with most applications. Esther offered advice to the Agents and Developers on preparing them. This was followed by a variety of presentations from members of the Development Control Management team on the development of new processes and procedures within the service. David Snell, Area Manager North Team, outlined emerging legislation in Development Control. Andy Higham, Area Manager South Team, presented the services new emphasis and approach on providing pre-application advice. Julian Jackson presented the recently established procedure for dealing with major applications. Su Whybrow, Support Manager, gave a presentation on the Planning website and on-line services offered to Developers and Agents.
The second half of the meeting was dedicated to the Agents and Developers having their say not only on the presentations but any issues they had on the Enfield Development Control service. There was a range of questions from those who attended the event. Attendees were asked to consider what issues they would like to see on the agenda for the next meeting, which will take place in April 2007. Ann Tilbrook, Development Control’s Customer Relations officer was responsible for the smooth running of the forum and is the key contact for any further information.
