Donations to the local History unit and the library service

The library service is always interested to receive offers of donated material. In particular, the Local History Unit collects books, documents, maps and other printed materials relating to the history of London Borough of Enfield, its predecessors, its neighbouring areas and its people. Loans of items of exceptional historical merit or research potential may be considered.

Any offers of donations or loans to the Library Service or Local History Unit will be assessed on an item-by-item basis.
In the case of Local History materials, contact the Local History Officer (Graham Dalling, above) to discuss whether we need, and can accommodate, the item(s) on offer. Please bear in mind that we already have copies of many printed materials relating to the history of Enfield and limited space to store them in, so we are unlikely to accept donations of materials already in our collections unless they are in outstandingly good condition. In general, older, rarer or unique materials are more likely to be of interest to us.
Please do check with us before disposing of any local historical materials – if we already own copies, we may be able to suggest alternative beneficiaries.
