Land and property - council environmental health services - out of hours emergencies

1. Out of Hours Noise Complaints
2. Out of Hours emergency cover to respond to other environmental health problems such as fatal or serious workplace accidents and other issues, which may have an imminent risk to health.

1) Environmental Health and Regulation provide an Out of Hours noise patrol on 4 nights of the week – commencing at 21:00 to 03:00 on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
In the event of a significant noise problem call the Council on 0208 379 1000.

2) For other problems which fall into the following list contact the Council on 0208 379 1000 and report the problem. The Council Borough Control Centre will contact an officer who will make a determination on the need for any further action at the time.

Notifiable Accidents and Dangerous Occurrences under Health and Safety Legislation e.g. fatal or serious work place accidents
Toxic/Hazardous Spillages involving Public Sewers/watercourses
Mortuaries
Control of Infectious & Communicable Diseases
Diseases of Animals including Rabies
Serious Flooding/Advice on Sewage Contamination
Removal of Dead Bodies and Subsequent Disinfection
Asbestos Incidents

NB
Not all incidents are classed as environmental health emergencies and the service contact officer will make a judgement. In such cases, if necessary, the matter will be investigated on the next working day.

Service Level Agreement and Turnaround
In the event of a reported issue that requires a response, the matter must be passed to the Borough Control Centre who maintain the call out details. The ‘Duty officer’ will make the assessment and respond as appropriate.
