Dog Fouling | |
|
Under the Dogs (Fouling of Land) Act 1996, any person who permits a dog that is in their charge to foul any area to which the public has access is committing an offence. The local authority may provide bins in parks and other public areas to which may be used by dog owners. The local authority are responsible for monitoring dog fouling and for initiating court proceedings against offenders, the prosecution of offenders and issuing of fixed penalty notices is performed by the Environmental Crime Unit. Our street cleansing service operates 24 hours a day Monday to Friday and 6am to 8pm Saturday and Sunday (weekend working is only in town centres etc.) Generally our cleaning teams visit residential streets weekly and animal fouling will be cleared at the time of clean. In town centres and busy shopping areas we may have daily continuous sweeps and these areas will be cleared of dog fouling in accordance with those frequencies. There are specific dog waste bins located through out the borough, particularly in areas where there is a potential for dog fouling, these bins are emptied weekly. Allowing dogs to foul public land is an offence and offenders will be prosecuted. For more detail please contact our Environmental Crime Unit via 020 8379 1000. Eligibility
