Enfield Council Tax Bands 2008/9
The full Council Tax bill assumes that there are two adults living in a home. We charge Council Tax on most homes. There is one bill for each home, whether it is a house, bungalow, flat, maisonette, mobile home or houseboat and whether the people living in it own or rent it.
Each home has been put into a band according to its value on the open market on 1 April 1991. Even if a property was built after 1 April 1991 the Listing Officer still has to band the propety according to what they think the value would have been at that date.
Your Council Tax bill will say which band your home is in. If you have not yet received a bill you can look at the valuation list on the Valuation Office Agency website or you can view the list at the Civic Centre. Once you know your band, return to this page to find out the relevant banding rate.

Banding Appeals
You must still pay your Council Tax while you are appealing. If your appeal is successful, we will give you a refund if you have paid too much Council Tax.
You can only appeal for the following reasons
• You have to pay Council Tax for the property for the first time. (You must appeal within six months of becoming responsible for Council Tax)
• You think the band should be reduced because of building work carried out on the property
• Your home has been adapted for someone with a disability
• Your property is not shown on the valuation list
• Your property has been demolished
• You think the state of the local area has got worse and reduced the value of your property
• You have started or stopped using your home for business purposes, or you are using more or less of it for business
• The Listing Officer has changed the valuation without your agreement.

All Council Tax valuations are based on the price a property would have sold for on 1 April 1991 if it was in a reasonable state of repair and there was nobody living in it. Any rise or fall in a property's value, which is caused by general changes in the housing market since 1 April 1991, will not affect the band your property is in.
