Traffic EngineeringImplementation of new traffic signals schemes aimed at improving safety at junctions by removing conflicting traffic movements, give priority to a particular class of road user including pedestrians and manage traffic flow and priorities at junctions. Traffic and Transportation Services will consider the need for Traffic Signals on the borough’s road network to reduce accidents as part of a safety improvement scheme, or to give priority to a particular class of road user, or to reduce delays and congestion by managing the capacity of the road network. Traffic Signal schemes are implemented with the approval of Transport for London (TfL) who is the traffic signal authority for London responsible for the installation and maintenance of all traffic signals in London. Faulty traffic signals in London can be reported to Traffic and Transportation Services on the contact details given above or to the local police.
