Road Safety - Traffic Schemes

Provision of traffic schemes.

The Council is responsible for the provision of all types of traffic schemes on all roads in the borough, excluding the A10, A406, M25 and private roads. (Transport for London is responsible for the A10 and A406, the Highways Agency for the M25 and the relevant management company for private roads). These schemes are typically aimed at improving road safety, reducing congestion or improving the environment.

All requests for traffic schemes are prioritised according to criteria relevant to the type of scheme. For example a traffic safety scheme would be prioritised according the history of road casualties at that site. The cost of providing a traffic scheme is also a factor, as the Council must make the best use of its limited resources.

Customers can request traffic schemes by post, phone, email or in person.
