Enfield School of Cycling - the provision of quality Cycle Training to Nationally Approved Standards for Enfield Residents and their Children.

Enfield school of cycling
Run by Enfield Council’s Road Safety Team, the Enfield School of Cycling provides practical training for Enfield residents over the age of 10½ wishing to learn how to ride safely on the road and also for adults who want to learn to ride a bicycle as a novice.

On road training
On Road Training consists of three one hour sessions, on a one-to-one basis and covers a wide variety of road situations as well as incorporating knowledge of the Highway Code and safety. Trainees are normally met at their home by a trained instructor and taken out on nearby roads or an agreed route, for example from home to school.

Training is available seven days a week throughout the year, during daylight hours subject to the following requirements:

• Trainees must be over the age of 10½
• They must be resident in the London Borough of Enfield
• They must be able to ride a bicycle unaided and have the use of a appropriately sized bicycle, in a roadworthy condition, for the duration of the course.

A course of training normally costs £46-00. However thanks to funding from Transport for London to promote cycling, we are currently offering free training, thanks to TfL funding.

Learn to ride a bicycle
Since 2002 Enfield School of Cycling has run a very successful scheme teaching adults to ride a bicycle from scratch. Using a specially constructed frame attached to a conventional bicycle called the “Bray Easy Learner”, we are able to teach adults the skills of balance and control needed to ride a bicycle.

Training takes place off road on Sunday mornings and courses comprising three 1 hour sessions cost just £56-00.
