Where is the Borough’s best new building?
Enfield Council’s Conservation Advisory Group want your suggestions for the Enfield Design Awards (EDA) 2007.

The EDA is a bi annual scheme intended to encourage a wider awareness of good design in the built environment and the positive impact it can have on everybody’s life. The Awards scheme was started in 2003 and has been run twice. The quality of the entries and support for the scheme has grown over this time.

Entries for the 2007 EDA can be made by anyone up until 31st October 2007 either by visiting the EDA website and using the online application form. Alternatively you can get an entry form from the Council’s Conservation Team on 020-8379-3871.

To be eligible, the project must have been completed within the last two years (September 2005 to September 2007) and should preferably be visible to the public, but other than that it can be absolutely anywhere across the borough. The five award categories (below) embrace most of the building types found in the borough: -

• New Residential Development,
• Commercial Development, Community Building or Project,
• Household Extension or Conversion
• Shop Front
• Listed Building

The Awards Sub Group prepares a shortlist for the judging panel to visit in the Autumn of 2007. The judging panel reflects a wide range of opinion, age and skill.
A winner for each of the categories is chosen, along with an overall winner.

The winners receive a plaque; runners up will receive a certificate. These awards will be given to the building owner and those associated with the project.

The awards will be presented at a reception held at the Civic Centre in January 2007.
