Footway Crossings, Driveway, Vehicle Crossover, vehicle crossingIt is an offence to cross the public footway without a legally constructed footway crossing. The council will construct domestic vehicular crossovers at the request of residents. There is a charge payable for this service and in some locations, such as on major highways, planning permission may be required. The council upholds the right to refuse applications. The resident must contact Highway Services to request the appropriate application form. A series of questions are asked in order to ascertain which form is posted to the applicant. Highway Approval

What Happens Next?
The applicant is sent the appropriate decision (granted or refused) with an estimate of works and further detailed instructions. Although the Council has an agreed policy with detailed criteria that is applied, all applications are assessed individually. You should be aware that it cannot be guaranteed that as your neighbour may have a crossing that you also have the same rights. The Council recommends that you do not undertake any works to your property in relation to a footway crossing until you have either spoken with the Highway Services department or your application has been granted. Council tenants may apply for a crossing, however Highway Services will seek approval from the Housing Department prior to assessing the application. If the applicant is registered disabled, the application fee will be wavered. Required customer information:
