Libraries - children's services

The childrens library service provides loan collections of books, CDs, DVD/videos and other resources. Libraries also provide a range of activities during school holidays, homework support, access to computers and a range of activities for very young children.

Enfield Library Service has 14 libraries and each provides a section for children. There are books for children from 0-11 including books for babies and toddlers through every stage of child development and learning. CDs, videos/DVDs are also loaned for a small charge. Most libraries provide weekly story, rhyme & play sessions for very young children and a range of activities for older children in the holidays and after school. All libraries provide facilities to assist children with their homework and some have dedicated Homework Centres with additional resources. Library membership is free and children can join easily without parents/carers signing the application, and no proofs are required. Children can borrow materials immediately. It is free to use libraries and almost all activities operate on a drop-in basis. Children’s books do not attract fines but a flat overdue charge is made if items are kept overdue. A catalogue of books is available via the Website.
