Libraries Study Tips
• Start your work early. The more time you spend planning and researching your homework, the better your work is going to be.
• By the time you are ready to research your topic you should know exactly what your homework is about and when the work needs to be finished.
• You should also be clear about how detailed your work needs to be and whether you need to include maps, pictures or diagrams. If you are not sure ask your teacher to explain exactly what you need to do.
• When you go to the Homework Centre or library don't forget to take:
• full details of your work
• your library card
• any other materials you will need
• Every library has a computerised catalogue called an OPAC that provides a list of all the books and other materials kept in Enfield Libraries. If you need assistance a member of staff will help you.
• Books and encyclopaedias are useful places to start your research. Always use the contents page and indexes to check if they hold the information you need.
• Enfield Libraries have staff to help you at any stage of your research and tell you how to get books from other libraries or reserve books.
