Library facilities made more enjoyable

Major changes have taken place at Palmers Green Library to improve its look and make it easier for customers to use.

The IT centre has been re-sited into the main library where it will be more accessible, and many of the PCs are now available for self-booking (no need to book ahead).

The children’s section has moved to a self-contained area with more space for very young children and their parents/carers to enjoy story and play activities, and for older children to choose their books and do their homework.

This gives children the freedom to enjoy their space without interrupting adults seeking a quieter space.

A single help point makes it easier for customers to return and borrow books, join the library and ask library staff for information.

The teen section and magazines have moved to other areas of the library making for a more logical arrangement with resources and books more easily displayed.

Head of libraries and Museums, Julie Gibson, said, “We are making changes to this and other libraries that reflect the needs and interests of the public. By arranging the space in a more logical way, people will find the library is easier to use and enjoy – and far more attractive to visit.”
